Blue badge

Hi, newbie here. Hoping for some advice. We live in a building and our flat is built for wheelchair use throughout. We have our own dedicated parking bay out side with road markings and a sign saying it's for our flat only. We have lived here for six yrs without any problems, then just before Christmas 2017 we had a parking notice from one parking solutions for not displaying a blue badge. The way I see it is you should only use the badge if my wife is using the car. I appealed to them but they said I have to pay £100. The council who issued the badge tell you not to leave on display because of theft. It's now in the hands of a dept collector who are now threatening court action, with it now costing £170. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, and welcome to the forum ....
just a few bits of reading for you
the newbies thread is the first place to start
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822
it will answer most of your questions ....
re debt collectors ... and other matters
and
please take the time to watch our MP's debating this 'cowboy industry' (Hansard)
https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2018-02-02/debates/CC84AF5E-AC6E-4E14-81B1-066E6A892807/Parking(CodeOfPractice)Bill
then complain to your MP.
at some point you may need to dig out your lease to see what it says re parking .....
have you complained to the management agents / housing association ?
good luck

The blue badge scheme does not apply on private land so there is absolutely no reason or requirement to display one.
Debt collectors can safely be ignored. This is explained in post 4 of the NEWBIES.
What does your lease/AST say about parking? This will have primacy of contract over anything the scammers say.
Did you get a PoPLA code with the rejection? If so, use all the template appeal points available to you from post 3 of the NEWBIES to construct a draft appeal, then post it here for checking before you submit it.
Have you complained to the landowner.
Please do complain to your MP.
These are some of the comments made by the MPs in Parliament concerning the unregulated parking industry (Feb 2018):

''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.
These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister.
