Moving home new are is UC . think ive messed form

Hi,

So i'm in receipt of income based ESA in Support Group ( till august at least as far as im aware )

I'm having to move house for sake of my health. The are I've chosen to move to however is a Full service Universal credit area .

Noone will help me at the council keep telling me to go online.. ive tried online got lost called helplines who didnt know the answers to my question.

Coucnil told me i would need to go and meet with a job coach but im not able to work and have support group award.

Ive started filling UC form in online and think ive made a proper mess of it with when last worked/not worked. I was a student before going on to ESA so I don't even know the dates of last job.

I'm now panicked as ive made a mess of the form.

I did just speak to someone on the helpline number who seems to know what hes talking about ( 2 others on other numbers confused me even more )

So just really looking for some advice/confirmation from anyone who has gone through similar.

I've been told to NOT do the UC claim today as although Im liable for both properties atm. I havent phsycially moved to the new one. That wont happen for a couple weeks ( as currently being snowed in doesnt help!)

I was told once i Move in to new place.. notify ESA and Local housing benefit place on that day .. AND do the UC claim that day online... now i said how will you know i get ESA nowhere does it ask for NI number etc but he says it will link up and they will know ( im not very confident and anxiety is through the roof right now shaking as i type so apologies for typos or rambling ) I'm assuming they know from my name and date of birth ? as address wont match anything :/

At that time he says I'll be asked to go to a Jobcentre with my lease ( both leases to try to claim housing for both properties at the same time as moving due to health not being able to manage stairs extreme pain etc )

I don't know who I'll get to a job centre with extreme ibd bowel issues and ability to walk a distance atm travelling is a huge issue for me.

Im panicked this is all gonna turn into one huge nightmare mess where i'll lose my esa and be put through form filling and assessments again and im not physically mentally capable of dealing with all that again right now. Ive paid deposit and 1st months rent as due today in new place and its filling me with regret now.

Try not to panic as things will sort themselves out.

Since you are already on income based ESA in the support group then you will transfer to UC with this payment and should not be reassessed unless you are due for another assessment. The only difference may be if you are receiving the severe disability premium with your ESA. This is not payable under Universal Credit.

As regards your housing situation. Have you notified your LA that you are moving and given them a date? What are your circumstances with your rented home? Is this a transfer from housing association property or a privately rented property? How long will you have to continue to pay rent on your current property?

When you have answered these questions then we might be able to help with rent costs.

Have you actually sent off your UC application?

Thanks for your reply. I do get the disability premium included in my ESA.. so this means I'll lose money then ?

I'm a private tenant and will still be a private tenant in the new place too.

I've liability now for both properties from today till month end.

I didnt send the UC as advised this would cause problems if I did it before I physically moved home.

If you currently receive the severe disability premium you will unfortunately lose £62.45 a week.

Do you receive DLA or PIP?

Yes, you will lose the premiums on UC as they are not paid with this. There's also a 6 week wait before you recieve any money, so you need to be aware of that also.

I lost PIP after assessment.. couldnt face going on with it so didnt appeal .. should really go for it again but so challenging... 62.45 a week seems a lot to lose... that would half the money a fortnight that i get currently in fact more than half it ... maybe i dont get that premium.. ill need to doubel check what one i have .. i know there is one on it :/

I'm aware of the potential wait .. Ive made some allowances for this.. I'm not going to move house till after my next esa payment and housing benefit payment is in then I'll move and that should bolster me over the time period .. i didnt pay this months rent used deposit for that ( agreed with LL )

    Regarding your new property.
As you are liable for council tax from the date you have the tenancy I suggest you contact the LA and tell them you haven't moved in yet, you may be eliglble for discounts while it's empty.

You say you lost your PIP after the assessment? This would mean you should have lost the Severe disability premium because PIP is one of the criteria for the SDP.

ESA Support Group is about £125ish (Income Related) per week without the SDP. Is this what you recieve?

Sorry I worded that wrong. Ive never been awarded it.. I applied and wasnt given it

I have deductions which brings me into 217 a fortnight atm.

Under UC my understanding is that you should get:
Basic allowance of £319 pm, and
Limited capability for work related activity element of £319pm.
You should be fast tracked into the LCWRA element as you are currently in the ESA SG.
You may need to let your coach / UC aware of the ESA SG award.
Plus, of course, the housing element.
