rac battery warranty

hi all i recently had a battery fitted by rac, no receipt was given with the battery this was emailed to me later, when it arrived i noticed that the terms state that you must do 2000 miles per annum for the waranty to be valid, i will not do this ammount of miles ( i use the car very infrequently)i called rac to tell them this and ask them to have the battery back and i would buy from elsewhere, they refused. have bought many batteries over the years from other utlets and have never been told i must do xxx miles to validate the warranty , i am just wondering if what they have done is legal.
thanks
Bill

Basically you have used the battery its now second hand.

One of the requirements of a battery to work is for it to be charged regularly .Under 2000 miles per annum is not going to be charging very often .
Warranty they can put any conditions they want on the T&C.
Consumer Rights are different in that respect .
If battery failed in 8 months with 500 miles you would claim under CR .

Even claiming under statutory rights might not be too straightforward.
If the RAC discovered that the car had only driven an average of 16 miles per week, they may well be of the opinion that such low usage of the vehicle wouldn't give enough of a charge to the battery to keep it at a voltage level sufficient to prevent degradation and early failure.

i appreciate the replies my point is there was no way for me to know that they were there conditions because i didnt get the terms and conditions until a few days afer the battery, surely that cant be legal.

A manufacturer can stipulate any terms and conditions they want in a warranty, it will not override your consumer rights.

At least RAC emailed you a receipt. After over 2 years I'm still waiting!
