Will having my boiler on full, 24/7 cause damage?

Hi All

We are having some work done to the house and as a result currently have no back wall to the Kitchen or one of the upstairs bedrooms.

I have turned off radiators in applicable rooms, but the boiler is still on full blast 24/7 just to maintain the rest of the house at around 16-17 degrees. (Our kitchen was -2 this morning with frozen taps! - not ideal!).

At the moment I'm manually turning it off for approx 1h each evening and using an electric heater in the lounge as an alternative. Am I likely to risk causing damage to the boiler (2009 Worcester 42i I believe)?

There is almost always someone home during the day/night, but using Tado, even if we're out it still seems to have it on full as thermostat is set to 20 degrees.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
James

For the period of time this cold weather lasts you are unlikely to do any harm to the boiler by 24 hour operation. I wouldn't turn it off for an hour either.
  • Perfect, Thank you
Its been on like this for 2 weeks so far (though not quite as bad) - house isn't likely to be weather tight for another 2-3 weeks (currently too cold most of the day for brick laying).
