UKPC PCN - States the wrong vehicle registration

Hello,

Advice needed please. A UKPC PCN was left on the car on 18 Feb 2018. The intent is to appeal as the keeper following the newbie sticky instructions from the forum. In prepping the appeal, the keeper just noticed that the PCN has been issued with a registration mark not matching the keeper's car. Is the PCN still valid? Is an appeal still needed?

I would suggest you wait for the NTK. Either it will never come because it is the wrong reg, or it will not match the PCN so will fail the POFA 2012 requirements which states that the details on the NTD and NTK must match.

Well done for following the NEWBIES, and really well done for spotting the error.

It is thought that PPCs deliberately put errors on the NTD (colour, make or model etcetera) in the hope that a motorist will contact them and give away the driver's identity.

Can you access the scammers pic on their website to see the VRN there?

You should complain to your MP about this scam. UKPC were caught doctoring time stamps on their photo evidence a while ago, so have form for telling porky pies.

These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.

A slightly wrong reg number is just one of the tactics these scammers use to get you to appeal and out the driver.

Thank you both for your responses. I'll wait for the NTK and write to my MP as you suggest Fruitcake. The pictures that come up on the website (accessed with incorrect VRN) does show car with VRN.
