  • Because it is probably not there.
I don't have a HSBC account but my bank wants a signed application form to do an IMT.

HSBC don't currently offer this option online for 'personal' customers in the UK - you will need to call them.

If you have a business account than I believe you have that option - as do many overseas personal HSBC accounts (including in the Channel Islands)

Thanks for your reply Sunil. Yes the acc. is a personal account. It's far easier to transfer online as I can simply copy and paste the long IBAN numbers from the email into the HSBC website. I will have to call them or pop into branch.
  • Did you find out the charge of an international transfer with a personal account with HSBC?

I've searched their web-site and can't find anything.

    Thanks.

I think it depends where you are sending the money and how much.

I know that HSBC has 'HSBC Priority Payment' and 'WorldPlay' which are different payment systems (maybe others).

    From their website:

    HSBC Priority Payment
    • Fixed rate international money transfers
    • Make payments to most countries in sterling or local currency
    • Best for urgent payments
    • No limit on funds you can send
    WorldPay
    • For payments of up to £2,000 in local currency.
    • Best for non–urgent payments.
    • Only available for payments to: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.
They may also have other ways - for instance, depending on your HSBC account sending money to another HSBC account may be free or cost £10.

I'm afraid you would need to ask them.

HSBC now allow you to make payments abroad from accounts in the UK using their Internet Banking platform.

I'm not quite sure when this was introduced but it must have been very recently as I don't recall it before..

    How much will it cost?

If your payment falls within the criteria for a Worldpay payment, the charge is £9. All other payments will be charged at £15. If you want the beneficiary to pay all charges, we will deduct the charge from the amount we send to the beneficiary bank.
