Strange phone call

Received a phone call from BW legal the other day. Would not provide me with reason for call until I confirmed my details. Which I refused. Fed up of scam callers and always been advised never to release Info to third parties unless you know who they are.
They advised I had recd a letter and not responded but refused to tell me the reason for the call or the content of the letter. Eventually put phone down on me.
Anyway I always look the companies up and most tend to be PI claims companies or PPI. However when I researched BW Legal on the web they came up as debt collectors for Parking Charges.
Which is strange as I've never received notification of one.
Anyone else recd a similar call is it a scam or genuine?

Have you changed your address in the past 6 years?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

BW Legal are known to operate in connection with other types of debt, mostly scraping the barrel stuff - old debts, payday loans etc.

There is little they can do other than bother you by phone - are your addresses/V5 up to date? Is there any chance a letter might have gone elsewhere? Once you have a letter, there is maybe more you can do but it could be as simple as someone else with your name and them chancing it.

DFW board will also offer good help. :)

We've seen companies fishing for victims where they have been given a name, or initials and a surname, and then contact several people with those details in the hope one of them is the one they are after.
It could be this, or it could be they have got your 'phone number some other way, to do with something else as suggested by pogofish.

Good for you for not giving them any information. Nothing can happen unless you get something in writing, at which point hopefully you will know what is going on.
