Energy tarrifs

Had a look at a new energy tariff thinking of changing to, but the cost of gas is just a few pence more , but the standing charge is 8or 9 pence more , surely this just makes them the same price as any other supplier, might be cheaper gas or electric but dearer in standing charge , or am not looking at the correctly

    You need to look at the total cost of your energy using kWhs/year as the basis for any price comparison. High standing charges/low unit cost tariffs suit high energy users. Low standing charges/high unit cost tariffs suit low energy users.
