Much like other stores that have disappeared I'm not the least bit surprised. Both Toys R Us and Maplin had some serious issues they seemed unwilling to rectify and they struggled to modernise.

Were Maplins and ToysRus actually ever on a High St. Surely these were the out of town stores that were taking business from High St shops.

Our local Maplin was in the town centre so they do exist.

The two Maplin stores that I have used were both in town centres. (Croydon and Crawley)

My local Maplins is (and always has been) in an out of town situation as is the local ToysRus.

The problem for Toysrus and Maplin are that most of their stores were never on the High Street.
