Connect Printer

I'm asking this on behalf of my boss, who's working from home. He's not very technically minded, and he is having trouble getting his printer/scanner to connect to his phone. He had it connected before, but has since had a new router (Sky Q fitted). He seems to think his printer is bluetooth though, which shouldn't have anything to do with the router, so I'm stuck. I don't know what to tell him to look for. He's in his 70's, so struggles a little with technology. I could help more if I was there, but someone out there, may be able to help me guide him through it. He's not even sure what the printer name is. I know it a cliche, but I told him to turn the printer off, and on again, and his phone, to see if they connect with each other.

i have a new phone and just connected to printer. you can either download the printer manufactures app or if he has a android phone and access to pc/laptop and google chrome you can connect printer to google cloud print."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0

but has since had a new router (Sky Q fitted)
more than likely he needs to connect printer via wifi to new router by using the WPS button on the router and wifi button on printer..
After that put the app for that make of printer on his mobile, if its not already on there?

It is for work therefore work should be sorting it or paying for someone to sort it. Other than giving basic advice you can offer I wouldn't go any further. What Ballyblack said! Bit hard if you don't know the manufacture or type of printer but under the circumstances there's not much more you can do. Does he know how to video call? Might be easier for you than going over and you might be able to tell what the printer is etc..0 -
We bought a new Cannon printer and had the same problem, after lots on on line chat help they said we could return it and gave us a decent discount on a better model which worked first time.
So first get on to the manufacturer and see if they have a simple way to connect.0 -
There is a fantastic printing app called Happy2Print.
Very easy to install and use, loads better than my manufacturer app (Epson) or Google cloud print (it's a Classic printer so PC that set up the connection had to be on before it would print from anywhere else).0 -
Thanks for all the replies. It did work before, from the app on his iPhone. I think it is the wifi setting on the printer. He says it's not finding the printer on his phone though, which it used to. It's hard to tell him what to do. By the way, he's the MD. I've since been informed it's a HP 200 series printer.0
