Charged me less but now chasing for the rest

Options
After the boiler installation from British Gas was finished I called to complete payment. That payment was completed but now they've called back about a month later to say that I still owe money because the person or the system which dealt with my final payment made a mistake.

What are my rights in this situation? It's a bit awkward because I was sorting this all out on behalf of a family member, and to now have to go back to them to say they need to pay more is a tad awkward.

It depends, if the cost was say £1000, that's what you'd been quoted and that's what you paid then even if they now realise it should have been £1350 your contract is complete and you don't owe them anything. If however the quoted cost was £1000 but they mistakingly only charged you £750 then you do still owe the difference.

Convenient how these figures are left out of the OP.

You need to pay the agreed, contracted price, if that isn't done then you must pay the balance.

if you believe the contracted price is paid then you need to contact them and dispute the balance, or at least their customer does as they won't speak to you about it.
