Problem getting car insurance

We've recently bought a car for our 18 year old son. Able to get car insurance from More Than with the obligatory black box. However when they came to fit it they wouldn't as they told us the car had the wrong wheels. As a consequence More Than have now withdrawn the insurance stsying that the car has been modified and they won't offer insurance on these grounds. Unbeknown to us the car had alloy wheels fitted by a previous owner. We know are struggling to get insurance....any advice please...

Maybe swap the alloys for the standard typeYou'll find me sat in the corner with a pack of dry roasted and a Guinness.0

As above. Its hard to tell if the wheels are non standard or not these days but if you can find alternative cover swap them for standard wheels and sell the alloys0

When you say that the insurer "withdrew" the insurance did they actually cancel it?
If so he now has a cancellation to disclose for ever when applying for insurance.
If this is the case he needs to plead for them to reverse the cancellation on the grounds it was a genuine error, and allow him to cancel the policy (or get it reinstated after replacing the wheels)0 -
does alloy wheels make the car more dangerous?? or appear like a boy racer car?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

We had this problem. It is to do with wheel size. In the end we printed the specifications for the wheels from the manufacturers website and sent that to them. There was nothing wrong with the wheels.0

As above if the wheel is bigger it allows you to corner a quicker speeds. Usually attracts a small loading (5%) on top of the premium0

There is no "usual" when it comes to modifications. Some insurers will not offer cover at all, some will but with varying termsAll matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
Hence why I said usually and not always or does.0

I always go for the round wheels; they work best and insurers like them too.0
