Nationwide Flexclusive Regular Saver & ISA

Options
Hi, I opened a Nationwide FlexDirect account on the 23rd of this month and today I went to try and open a Flexclusive Regular Saver & Flexclusive ISA. However their system is saying these accounts are only for customers with main current account who have been paying in £750 a month.

Now the eligibility criteria on their website is as follows for both accounts....
To open this account:

You need to be 18 or over and have your main current account with us. This means you must either:

hold a FlexOne, FlexStudent, FlexDirect or FlexPlus account

OR

hold a FlexAccount and:
have been paying in £750+ a month for the last 3 months (excluding transfers from any Nationwide account held by you or anyone else);or
completed an account switch to us (from a non-Nationwide account) using our Current Account Switch Team in the last 4 months.

So according to that because I hold a FlexDirect account I don't need to have been paying in £750 a month for the last 3 months.

I gave them a call this morning and the lady on the phone was as surprised as I was. The only thing she could come up with was because the account was still new and I hadn't received my card or pin yet that the system has not fully registered I am a FlexDirect customer until these are issued and I make first use of the card.

Has anyone else tried to open these accounts shortly after opening a FlexDirect current account (the one with 5% interest on balances up to £2500)? Did you also experience these issues and is it just a waiting game?

She said to try again in a week (after I get my card, etc) and if it still doesn't work then call them back after 9am as that is when their savings team is open.

Just wondering if this is normal or if I should be able to open it today and if anyone else has experienced this?

Thanks!

Coincidence but i opened my natiowide Flexdirect account 3 weeks ago, still waiting for the passcode to open the internet banking up but i applied on line for the regular saver yesterday, opened no problem, i have my debit card and had already deposited £1500, i think it is £1000 per mth for the interest on £2500, i'm depositing £1000 tommorow 1st march
  • Hmm, so seems like I should be able to open the account shortly then. Like I said, my account has been open less than 1 week, so the lady at Nationwide thinks that's the problem.

Might just have to wait a little longer and see what happens if no-one else has opened the 2 accounts so close together and can advise?

I already had an online login with them as my mortgage is with them, so I can see my FlexDirect account online and have already transferred the full £2500 into it to make use of the interest.

Plan is to transfer £1000 a month into the FlexDirect each month (to keep the interest at 5%) and set up a standing order for that £1000 to then be redistributed to the Regular Saver & ISA accounts I have.

It's mentioned occasionally, and as recently as last week where a possible solution was posted.

Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

Thanks for that, went and applied using the "Don't have an online login" option as mentioned in that thread and they have taken my application and given me a reference number. I'm guessing that a real human will check everything is correct now and then generate the accounts instead of just "Computer Says No".

Says it can take up to 7 days, so will wait and see what happens next.
