Personal injury 52 week disregard

Hiya guys
Sadly lost my mum a few weeks ago, after long illness. I hadn't worked for the last 5 years. COIncidentally my personal injury compensation will be available soon.
I will be on income support/carers allowance for another 4 weeks then will have to apply for Universal Credit.
I want to ring fence my compensation so I can use it for rehab. My question is should I put into a personal injury trust account (I know I need to set up a trust deed). Eventually I will be receiving an inheritance, not a great amount but over the £16k cut off point. I know then I will not be able to claim anything then and that's all good (hoping to return to work at some point in the future)
Is there a 52 week disregard as don't want to bother with a trust for 6 months. I rang Universal Credit hotline and she'd not heard of it
Sorry for long winded post x
