Best basic account for very bad credit, help :(

So in a nutshell.....
Following on from my previous post;
I have a very bad credit rating (although no CCJs) same address all my life , on the electoral role & same employer for 3 years.
I applied for a flexbasic account with nationwide and it immediately accepted me and appeared to verify my identity electronically. (No need to take I.D/driving license into branch) phoned up twice and confirmed card/account details are on the way.
Fast forward to today I got an email from an advisor at Nationwide saying my account has been closed already (apparently due to Lloyds bank putting a marker on my credit file for fraud due to my ex partner properly messing about with my Lloyds account when it was open. She was reported to the police and Lloyds so in no way was it my fault and they know that)
Now I need to remove the fraud marker off my Credit file , how easy is this going to be? Because nationwide told me to do this and then go back to them and they'll open my new account again.
I'm getting so frustrated with this. I'm currently working from an 'Arro money' contactless mastercard but it's just so restricted compared to a normal current account (time frame for wages clearing etc)
Any advice will be appreciated!

You need to make an Subject Access Request to CIFAS: https://www.cifas.org.uk/contact-us/subject-access-request
If the fraud marker was not because of you, once you have the result, you can speak to the relevant bank and make a formal complaint etc.
If they refuse to take it off, then if it's incorrect, take them to Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). Crucially, you cannot take them to FOS until you have been issued a final response, or 8 weeks have passed since you lodged your complaint.
If you have the CIFAS marker for fraud, most banks won't touch you with a barge-pole.
I'm surprised Nationwide would have told you about the CIFAS marker being present (especially by email), and who put it there. Normally a bank (in this case, building society) would simply not open the account, or close it without comment.0 -
Thank you for your reply.
The email I received from the nationwide advisor had a name at the bottom of who it was from but it said don't reply to this email. I found out about the Lloyds fraud marker by phoning up (not by email) they only told me basic details over the phone surrounding the Lloyds situation.0 -
You will need to do a Subject Access Request to CIFAS, if you go to their website they explain how to do this, once you know what Lloyd!!!8217;s have put you can raise a complaint with them and hopefully they will remove any incorrect info, if not then you will take it to the ombudsman. Unfortunately this could take months but in the end you should get it resolved it really will depend what Lloyd!!!8217;s has put or where they feel you were party to fraud, do a search on this forum loads of stories of the Lloyd!!!8217;s group causing these issues, do report back as you teach each milestone.
