HomeServe Questions

Has anyone had dealings with HomeServe ? the water pipes and drains repair company ?.......our policy with them is coming up for renewal, and their price has risen dramatically.....doing some research on them, it would seem that they are probably not a good company to deal with......any advice appreciated......Jack.

Ring and negotiate a better price. Mine goes up a chunk each year, I ring and tell them that as a long term customer I don't find the new price acceptable and it's perhaps time to cancel my policy and they always manage to come up with a better number.

But I must be well in credit with them, on paper, as I've had two policies for a long time and only called them once, for something that turned out to be very minor, so my negotiating position is quite strong.
  • Thanks for that, we have been with them for two years......the first year being the really cheap introductory offer, then last year we paid the "full" amount, which in all fairness was quite reasonable......policy is due for renewal in March, and the price has risen sharply......I am thinking of cancelling.......Jack

Same here I had a really high quote for 3rd year cover so I called them yesterday and was given a lot better price so have taken it out. Have had to make a couple of claims before and have been happy with the service so was happy to renew at a more reasonable price

Same here.....I have now agreed to re-new my policy, as they have given us a fairly hefty discount......it took two attempts, but just shows that it is worth negotiating.....I have heard good, and bad, reports about them, luckily we have never had to call them out, but our neighbours did, and were very pleased with the service......Jack.

I have a suspicion that it could vary in across the country in terms of service, ive only ever made claims on the electric side rather than water but they sub contract out to a local electrical company for their call outs here and on each occasion was electricians from this same firm. And the service for which always been pleased with.

Why do you need Homeserve on a new build? Put the money in a savings account instead.
