Greetings Money Savers,
A bit of a random day for me in terms of productivity. Wasn't sure if the builders would be here this morning as the weather forecast was for showers on & off all day, but they are all here & yah boo to the forecast, as we have had precisely 2 showers so far- both v light & lasted less than 5 minutes each. Loads of activity going on, cement mixer, bricking, shovelling, new drainage system joined to existing one & another little problem discovered......no cost to this one, thankfully, as it just involves one of them shinning up a ladder. So in between making drinks & liaising about this & that, I've baked a cake, done 6 surveys, cashed out of a survey site for another £5 voucher for a useful high street shop, perused Direct Saver savings account statement, done the ironing & ordered 2 Christmas presents..........no I haven't lost my calandar....(or the plot!)..... I jot down present ideas in my notebook when I think of them & there were a couple for my B-in-L & Mr F's B-in-L from a company which just happened to ping me a 15% voucher code this week. When I visited their website to check the price of these potential gift ideas, there was already 20% off, so with my 15% off on top of that, I thought it really made sense to get them ordered. They'll just be put in the presents stash & I shan't think about them again until I unpack the bag around October to sort everything out.
I do need to go & check how my greenhouse plant babies have fared today now that the bottle cloches have been removed from lots of them. Very little kitchen witchery required tonight - just a packed lunch to make & jacket potatoes to put in the oven. I shall probably enjoy a bit of reading time or do a bit more of my tiny hand made rug kit (unwanted gift which was passed onto me) - I am wondering if it would make a nice gift for my friend when it's finished, if I backed it with something hardwearing like hessian. I'll make a decision when I've finished it. If it comes out well, then that could be another item hot-footing it to the presents stash.
Oh & I suppose another money saving activity has been refusing to cave in to Soot's incessant demands for biscuits. I don't know whether it's because he particularly likes this fishy variety or because we've just opened a new bag so they are crunchier than usual, but he is in EVEN WORSE biscuit-pester mode than usual & meowing fit to wake the dead. He's very amusing though & re being a biscuit hoover, I suppose it kind of takes one to know one.......
Ah well, that's my lot.
Talk to you tomorrow, all being well.

Just back from visiting family. Decided to pop into supermarket to pick up some fruit and bread we needed and a portion of chicken wings & chips slipped into the basket. !!! That’s what I get for being a bored solo driver on a 2 and half hour journey. Next time there will be mini picnic prepared - even if I don’t need one. 🤣5

It’s interesting as we are going through the reading scheme now with my 5yo. I actually thought the books were pretty good and even had little plot twists etc - we both enjoyed them.
The school has now swapped to some other scheme in the past few weeks and the new books are both weird and dull as ditchwater….
Yes - I have pinched out the sweet peas that are taller and attacking everything in sight. Hopefully they’ll be ok for another couple of weeks 😬2025 decluttering: 3,984🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

@QueenJess, you can always give them a little bit of seaweed solution if they start to look peaky.

Well, this morning has gone to pot! Going to have a coffee & slice of cake, then play the piano before reclaiming the rest of the day.
£323 spent so far, grrrrrr.

yesterday we nipped to take some work parcels and drop off at accountant and got a shedded tire £40 to replace and that’s only been on less than 6 months after we found a nail in it grr4 -
Thanks all, have calmed down now.
@Deni_debt-free_dreamer, no it wasn't an additional builder expense, although there have so far been £403 worth of those!
Building work going well. From the look of things atm, it is going to look just how I envisaged it, but better, as I hadn't realised we'd be getting these nice smart edging bricks too.
