By weird coincidence, with reference to the peanut butter comment, a post came up on the BBC Good Food FB about making peanut butter treats for dogs 🤣 Apparently you have to make sure it’s xylitol free. You can apparently buy dog peanut butter but someone commented the ingredients are exactly the same as a good quality human consumption one but a lot more expensive. It won’t let me post a link for some reason but here’s the site address if anyone wants to try them for their dog:

That was it its xylitol not sorbitol. My apologies for misinformation. I should have looked it up before posting. Sorry everyone I got the wrong thing.😚4

It does seem as though everyone with pets has a tale to tell about tablets. The vet also gave us an anti-flea/tick tablet for each of the cats.....needless to say that as the beef-flavoured worm pills were a double-fail, we haven't tried administering these yet!
And hello Saturday Savers,
Well, I cleaned the bathroom, enjoyed a bath & hair wash, got some bread dough proving, did a few financial updates, then did as planned & sat with my diary & wodge of paper setting out a timeline for the building work which is happening a lot earlier than we anticpated. I'd just got that almost finished, & all known dates infilled with the various preparation tasks we need to do when our builder pinged me to say would it be ok if they started the demolition on this coming Tuesday!! Back to page 1 of my planning schedule. A bit scary tbh, with cats who are still not going out yet, but honesty, the sooner this project is finished the happier I will be, as I have hated our tatty front courtyard ever since we moved in here nearly 2 decades ago, but it was never a priority job with the more important stuff which needed doing/putting right. So a bit of a scramble to come over the next 2 days with digging out plants I want to keep, seeing if we can rescue some shrubs, moving heavy pots, etc, but it will be lovely to have it all finished while it's still Spring as there is still plenty of time to sow extra bedding plants & it should be looking pretty in time for summer. I will be trying to strike a balance between a reasonable spend on the new planting & shopping from home, as I do have a well-stocked & very planty back garden.
It's not my cooking night & Mr F is trying another new recipe - it's a stew involving cauliflower, chickpeas & chunks of leftover ham. I can't quite imagine it tbh, but it looked nice in the picture & I am always on the look out for additional creative ways to use up leftovers. Well, I was going to chat about food waste & cutting energy use as well, but my posts do get so long. Maybe I'll pop back later or save those for tomorrow.
Take care now,

Morning Sunday Savers,
I don't know how many of us are near a Waitr*se, but am just flagging up that their free weekend newspaper (current week's edition) contains an article on 100 ways to avoid food waste. While I did already know most of these things or would do them anyway because that's just how I approach cooking, etc, there were a few ideas that were new to me. For instance, I know that certain floppy veg can be revived by standing root end in cold water, but I didn't know that it works with carrots if a slice is removed from the root end first. For anyone setting out on reducing grocery budget by tackling food waste, I'd definitely recommend this article & I've kept my copy to have another read.
No purchase necessary as this free paper is just there to pick up. Anyway, just a mention, in case anyone happens to be walking past. It may well be available to read online too.

P. S On the same subject, that new recipe Mr F cooked last night was really tasty. It used a chunk of leftover New Year ham which I had frozen & made 4 portions plus a smaller one to take for a work lunch. Leftovers aren't a nuisance, they're resources!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever
