If I have the odd egg nearing its use by i whisk it up divide into three portions and freeze it to use to brush pastry when I need it. I hate having to use a whole egg for such things10

Tescodealqueen - yes, that is a good idea. I have occasionally frozen an egg for this purpose, but it's never occurred to me to divide it up into portion first, which means I could be even more economical! I will be doing that in future.
CLF - Yes, will try & remember to post the semolina cake recipe. If it hasn't appeared over the following week, do feel free to remind me.

Hello Icicles,
Very feeble snow here so far.....a bit of 'couldn't-be-bothered sleet' followed by a few flakes. Supposed to be getting a sprinkling tonight, but I think it will mostly be ice for us in the morning. Too soggy in the garden, still too early for doing anything much in the greenhouse, so decided to tackle my hair. Well, what a money-saving hair makeover that has been, for sure.....mostly because of Lockdown rather than frugal motives. I furnished Mr F with my dressmaking shears & asked him to chop 5 cms off my long hair. He did, then as I still had ear lobes & a face, I felt it was worth having a little extra trim myself around the front. Hair now cut back to sort of scrunchy bob. I still had two boxes of hair colour left from when I bulk-bought some for my toiletries stash while they were on offer, so I set about colouring my horrid roots & it must have been a bit of a lockdown lift, as I even took the tweezers to my eyebrows while my hair was cooking. Followed by a rather nice bubble bath, I felt I'd done a bit of useful free maintenance! I like to wash out & save the plastic dye applicator bottle as next time, I shall mix up half a colour kit & just refresh my roots. Gloves washed & hanging up to dry for same purpose. I must have saved a good few quid doing this over the years.
Mr F is busy in the kitchen making one of his favourites - Madhur Jaffrey's recipe for whole spiced Indian roast chicken. He's making garlic rice to go with it. It is good for leftovers too......always a subject close to my heart, as you know!
Well, I am going to tidy up & put some new tea lights out ready for lighting tonight. Then I think I will set about finishing my book, as I don't have many chapters left, then carry on with my current blanket square (48 / 144).
Stay cosy, it's proper chilly out there tonight,

That was brave giving Mr F the dressmaking shears and asking him to cut your hair. Glad it all turned out ok and no tears before bedtime 😆 I’ve cut my fringe and coloured my hair, that’s the extent of my hairdressing doings. I did purchase a LED lamp and gel base coat, top coat and a couple of gel colours for my nails. Not doing too bad but I won’t be giving up my day job😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)9

Lol, Sun_Addict, it's the third Lockdown trim I've asked him to do but I think this was the most I've asked him to cut off. I wanted to book in at my usual salon in between lockdowns but we have been a high covid region for a long time & the salon I go to is absolutely tiny. I know they passed all the safety measures required to re-open, but I just didn't dare go. I will be on for a proper nice hair cut when this is all over, then might colour some of it pink, I'll see.
