Lol, Blackcats, it was simply that they were at the front of the freezer & I got to them before the peas!

Best wishes for a very speedy recovery'In the widening gap between credits and debits hangs a question: What parts of this life are you willing to give up, so you can keep on living?'

Awww, thanks all. My arm is definitely less painful today, though still tender. It wasn't a joint or a bone, it was just a humungous bash to the soft tissue. It's surprising how much these things can hurt, but I suppose it's a bit of a trauma to the area, isn't it? I shall have to be more careful!
Glad you are booked in for your vaccine, Pixiehouse55. It is definitely right for carers to be a priority group.

Dear Diary Readers,
Well, apart from 5 little trips from our front step to the wheelie bins, I haven't been outside at all. It has rained all day so far ☔ ☔ ☔ & I have been a wimp & confined myself even more to barracks than is usual for Lockdown. Anything useful achieved? I think just keeping one's mood fairly buoyant is an achievement in itself atm. So today's positives are:
1. Having a good night's sleep.
2. My funky little ankle wellies arrived, fit well & if they are as useful in our muddy garden as I think they'll be, they will be worth every penny.
3.Baked a sourdough loaf which turned out nice & crusty.
4. Worked hard on my piano practice & improved a tricky section of Mozart where I always mess up... then give up.
5. No need to cook tonight as made enough beef & butterbean stew last night to feed us twice (plus microwave mug frozen for a work lunch)
6. Sorted out my jam jar stash & fetched out all the jars suitable for marmalade, as it is Seville orange season.
I know these are only little things, but it is truly a case of simple pleasures having to suffice these days.
Stay safe m'dears.

Looking forward to the weekend when I will have time to make some Seville Orange marmalade. I always think it’s a comforting, pleasant task to do in the depths of winter.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

I agree, Honeysuckle. That beautiful bright citrussy fragrance always seems to cheer up a dreary winter day. Am looking forward to making this year's batch.

I made some marmalade today. Saw some seville oranges in Waitr*se the other day - I usually miss them, but don't worry over much as I make marmalade from any citrus fruit (or a mixture, which is nice), at any time of the year, as it is one thing that OH would be horrified to run out of, and the supermarket stuff just doesn't cut it. I must say it set a lot quicker and easier using the seville oranges though! Ideal use of a horrible wet day.
