Yes, that's exactly what's happened, HHoD. I'm trying to catch up but there is still lots of work to come. At least we can finish moving furniture around this weekend & hopefully get at the last of the builders' dust. And once Mr F has painted the kitchen, things in there can pretty much get back to normal.
It'll be lovely when it's done though.

Hello Frugal Lovelies,
A little shopping from home success today! I did remember to measure my nice old vintage door curtain before going into town to buy something for re-lining it. However, while I was doing this, I found myself thinking 'Actually, this lining looks fine now the curtain's had a good wash'. The current lining is made from a warm cotton throw in a neutral cream colour. The bottom of this gets very dirty, but that's because the entire curtain is too long, so it gets walked on when we come in from the garden. Therefore all I need to do is fetch my big dressmaking shears & some cream thread from my sewing box & actually shorten them! So that's what I am going to do & so 'Buy something to line kitchen door curtain' was duly crossed off my shopping list! These days, I seem to think more about a project before instantly rushing off to buy, & this very often results in a shopping from home solution rather than a spendy one.
Anyone else had any good shopping from home stories recently?

Morning OBL - Yes, I found when I had flu (3 years running!) that it did give me a bit of a mental lift to be able to do anything, whether knitting, reading or whatever. But we also have to accept that sometimes we lie in bed or on the sofa because that's what our bodies need & it's not a stage to be rushed.
I am very much enjoying my piano, thanks. It is sooooo shiny. The first person to leave a cup ring on it will be in for some serious grief, I can tell you!
Take care,
F x

Hi Foxgloves and Gang. Hope you're all ok?. We.l I'm still feeling exhausted lol John is home from hospital. Lots of sloppy food for 6 weeks. Exciting stuff. Poor man lost lots of weight. His brother turns up yesterday with flower's and hockey.ates to say thank you for all that we've done for John. I've managed to give the house a good clean this week and watered my fuchsias in my gree house, brought cycle cyclemans and pansies for 2 baskets in the back garden but not planted them yet. Changed our broadband from EE to BT. Cheaper and better service,, so far. The curtains that were in our lounge and water damaged are going to be put up at the double front doors. Waste not want not hey☺. Hubster is sanding down all unit doors and re varnish. Then the kitchen is finished☺. Hope you are all having a good weekend. Keep safe

Yes, Pixiehouse, it must feel very nice to be appreciated for all that you do.
Your baskets will look nice with the cyclamens. They always look fresh & pretty for autumn.

Hello Monday Moneysavers,
I was pleased to see this morning when I came downstairs that the vintage door curtain I altered really does look heaps better. I did it yesterday afternoon. I unpicked the hem & a little way up the sides, then cut out a big lump of lining, before re-hemming at a shorter length. It will have to be taken down again for kitchen painting but no matter. I'm so glad I was able to shop the solution from home, because 'the solution' really was just a spool of thread from my sewing basket & a couple of hours of my time & by doing it this way, I've also saved the warm lining, which is a benefit as this curtain does hang over a draughty door.
Anyway, onto today. It's been a useful day of routines, really. I've done my Monday morning budget updates & moved some funds around to keep the different pots straight, I've done 4 Prolific surveys - all short ones, but another £3.38 for my total. I'd like to get it to £50 to cash out before Christmas, so must remember to check-in every day to see if there are any for me to do. I've wrapped a birthday gift using a gift bag & home made tag from my recycled wrappings stash & I've packed away two Christmas presents which I ordered & arrived today - I must do an inventory this week of what I've already bought. I have also written my Christmas wishlist for Mr F, as despite always buying lovely presents when left to choose himself, he still very much likes to have some ideas on paper. I think this may be more so since we reformed our attitude to money, actually, as there's that thing of wanting to spend our money meaningfully. On the house-running front, I've done 2 loads of laundry, both of which have been pegged out all day in semi-sunshine & set about the rubber pork. It did a roast dinner yesterday, will do generous helpings tonight for hot pork cobs with apple sauce, plus a stir-fry with noodles tomorrow & there's a box of leftover meat, veg & gravy which Mr F will almost certainly take for a work lunch this week. I haven't been very physically active, apart from a quick trot to the village post box with a couple of letters - I must try & get out in the garden at least 2 or 3 times this week, as that is always good exercise this time of year, with all the clearing & cutting back which needs doing.
Well, I must go & see if that laundry has dried or if it needs an hour on the heated airer. Then I think I'll put my audio book on in the kitchen while I continue putting things away & make some coleslaw to serve with the pork cobs.
How can it be another Monday again already? I thought that with activities/outings curtailed by the wretched virus, that time would seem to slow down, if not actually d...r...a...g.........but it feels as though it's gone the other way. The year - & this month particularly - are rushing by & everywhere I look, I seem to see at least 6 jobs which need doing! Well, one certainty is that they will all still be there tomorrow, so I think I'll just see what I can achieve over the course of this week.
Please try to keep as safe as possible,
F x
