OBL - Face masks are all bright blue with funky little hedgehog print. Mask liners are plain white cotton. My dress is same inside & out....just a mid-purple cotton & linen mix. I can tell you've got your detecting head on, lol.....but go on....that black fluff was well weird, wasn't it? Never had this happen before. You should have seen it all in the plughole - a whole pile of the stuff!

Did Mr F wear a black jumper over his work shirt perhaps?LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.315

Thanks for your suggestions re the Evil Black Fluff - I can't see that the builders have disturbed any washing machine plumbing until this afternoon, & Mr F doesn't own any jumpers or black woolly tops. It's very odd. I put another laundry load on first thing this morning & inspected everything thoroughly whilst pegging out. Everything was normal. After the Fluff incident, I did run a 95 degree cycle with a mug of vinegar to give everything a good flush through, so maybe that took care of the last of it. Unless it happens again, I think it is going to be one of those little domestic mysteries which never get solved.

Hello Diary Readers,
I must go & fetch the laundry in, in a minute & start prepping a bit of veg for tonight, but I thought I'd pop on & tell you that our tiny new utility room is finished (apart from Mr F or I needing to paint it, of course) & it is looking fab. I can't believe how much storage opportunity a good bit of design has given us. Work on pantry to commence tomorrow.
I've been jamming today. Apple & ginger jam. We both like it....it's nice on toast & croissants, in cakes & on porridge, plus it is nice for gifting, so it seemed a good use of the 6lbs of apples which were sitting on my butcher's trolley waiting for inspiration. Recipe said 9lbs, so I sterilised 11 x 1lb size jars to be on the safe side. Oh my goodness, that jam was like the cauldron which kept on giving......I ladled it in all its molten autumn loveliness into 9 jars, then the 2 spare ones......& there was still a lot left, so I have put it in a heat-proof pottery jug with foil on top & we will make sure we use that first. I shall probably use some to sandwich a cake together over the weekend, as it's a pint jug.
A quick trot down the garden revealed that I shall need to do some more picking tomorrow morning. I'm intending to start with the hot lemon chillies because I intend to use the ripest ones for a batch of chilli jam. I bought a jar last year from a local NT food fair, which was made from the 'hot lemon drop' chilli variety. It was so nice, I bought some seeds to try & grow a crop of these myself. They've done really well, so now I just need to see if I can turn out a good jam with them.
I've also baked a loaf of wholemeal bread today & placed another big flour order with our local(ish) windmill. I know supermarkets generally do have plenty of flour in stock now, but the millers helped me out when I couldn't get any, it is totally fab flour, all sourced from wheat which is as local as possible, & I would like to remain a customer.
OK, must crack on.....
Bloody Covid, it's not going away any time soon, is it.....please try to stay as safe as possible. I think from various comments I've seen on social media, that there are a lot of people who really don't seem to grasp the concept of 'global pandemic'.......I have read rather a lot of unbelievably naive & arrogant comments and can only assume some of them must be stoked by conspiracy theorists. Anyway, it's masks, handwashing & standing as far away from people as possible here & that's not going to change until the situation does.
Cheers m'dears,
F xx

Apple and ginger jam sounds delicious.
I agree some people are naive and arrogant, we are with you on the handwashing, masks, social distancing. I do miss hugging my extended family, but so worth it to keep us all safe.
