I think youmg people have the attitude of it wont happen to me. Just like young men in cars wont have an accident until it happens. The media is not helping in my opinion , I hasten to add, as all they seem to be doing is listening to people complain about all the things they cant do. It need to be spelt out in words of one syllable that we cannot resume doing all the things we want to and unless people listen we never will. The media could be such a force to help in this situation as could all politician but all they seem to be doing is criticizing but not putting forward any help. Sorry for the rant but I for one am fed up with listening to all the negativity. We all need to try to make the best of things as they are and not concentrate on what isnt possible at the moment.Having said all that I do worry that they will close the pubs, not that I have been in one for years but my daughter works in one and that could cost her and many others their jobs.10

We are in north Somerset. A place where they all come for the beach, the motorway is heaving, its scary. People think children can't catch it, my friends daughter works in a children's ward and they've had a few cases. We see people/young teenagers all huddled round together without a care in the world. What is the matter with these people??.
Anyway as I climb off of my high horse... and breath😊 We went to a organic fruit n veg shop. We over spent!!!. Then brought our people, a burger and fries each. Treat day for them, thats OK as we've got carrots, runner beans, tomatoes and cucumber coming along nicely and lots of food in the freezers and cupboards to keep us going........ We got a bonus this months wage because we've had our peop,e home 24/7 3 1/2 months as day centres day care and respite was all cancelled. That money will pay chunk off of CCard and the rest in our "spare money/savings for extras account.....Fingers crossed work for flooring will now start August 12th. 🤞🤞🤞
Gradually getting each room is having a good clear out and clean. Our gorgeous Saluki dog knocked hubby over this morning ☹ He now has very badly bruised ribs, very sore and swollen with lump elbow. Will see how he is tomorrow, might have to get himself checked out at A &E tomorrow..... I hope Foxglove that you and the gang here are doing OK?.. time for sleep now. Take care and keep safe everyone..... Rambled on a bit there didn't i🤣😂 Sorry. I don't get much chance for Adult chitchat.

Hi pixiehouse55 We are also in N Somerset and havent been near the beach for a long time because of all the people descending on it. In fact I dont even go into town unless I have to and then go first thing in the morning and am usually home.before 10.30am. We have also decided not to do car boot sales as they get filled up with visitors at this time of year and although our infection rate is low who knows what others are bringing.

I completely agree. The media and politicians need to be saying, "This is what is happening, this is what you do". And stop criticising one another just for the sake of it. It's a pity that people can't do the things they want but life has changed and we just have to get on with it. Actually, I can't understand what pleasure people get from driving on crowded motorways in sweltering heat to sit on an overcrowded beach with queues for everything. And that's under normal circumstances. We do have a self catering holiday booked in the UK and (all being well if we don't have any travel restrictions) I will not being going anywhere that's crowded. Quite happy to go for a walk or sit in the garden with my G & T if that's what it takes. Are these lovely towns in Somerset and Dorset (places I would love to visit) even busier than they normally are at this time of year?Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.12

Toni Friend I really cant give an opinion on how busy the towns are as I rarely venture into them except first thing but from news reports every time the sun shines we get crowds on the beach and sea front.9

We're renting a self catering place near Bath and although I love Bath we won't be visiting this year due to fear of crowds re the virus. We'll stick to NT places where they limit numbers. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

It seems when people meet up they think that SD doesn’t apply and is just for other people ☹️ I‘m glad some restrictions have been put on hold and whilst I feel sorry for the people working in those industries it needs to happen. Thanks for always mentioning your heated airer foxgloves. Ours (bought with 20% off) arrived yesterday. Well. Mr Purps had just pegged out a load as the sun had been out. 5 minutes later the rain came so in came the washing and out came new product. Mr Purps was very sceptical 🤨 to say the least, especially when he realised I’d bought it a ‘coat’ ! 😂The rain didn’t last long but we left it on as an experiment. When we packed it away so we could cook tea Mr Purps was amazed that some of the small items were already dry in less than a couple of hours. So now he’s converted. Thanks again.10

I agree with everything on the subject of people thinking that as they 'feel safe', social distancing doesn't apply to them. We have been discussing that today & Mr F says we all ignored the rules when we were that age, but the difference here is that they are not just putting their own health at risk, but the health/lives of other people. When I was in my early teens, I was repeatedly told by my parents not to go on frozen flood water (we lived near a major river). I used to nod as though they were wasting their breath telling me not to do something I'd NEVER be silly enough to do, then head off to meet my friend to go skating on the flooded areas. It was very difficult in places to see where the flood water ended & the river began, but that didn't stop us as we never thought there was any chance of us getting ourselves into danger. The problem here is all the other people drawn into danger because of somebody's stupid devil-may-care decision whether it be rescue services (it always infuriates me hearing of numpties who set off up a mountain at Christmas in thick fog wearing silly footwear without a map for that reason!) or passers-by putting themselves at risk to try & help. This is exactly the problem with all these group of young people meeting on beaches, parks, illegal raves, etc. It isn't ABOUT whether they feel safe, it is about them endangering others. There's been a lot more in the news today about plans for further lockdown if required. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this became necessary. Lockdown was eased too early & I don't think there was sufficient time between each stage to analyse its impact. Let's just say that chez Foxgloves, emergency food stores in case we are contacted by Track & Trace, are very much being maintained.
