Foxgloves. Yes I know that councils are struggling but ours seem to be especially moneygrabbing. The traffic wardens have been issuing tickets to people who cant move the cars from outside their home because they are ill with coronavirus. Most of the residential property in the town centre can only for for 2 hours at a time with no residents parking permits.. It took them about 2 weeks to give NHS staff free parking. The wardens have been going over the top with tickets, delivery drivers cant even park outside the premises they are delivering to withou getting a ticket. I could go on and on but the parking in this town is not user freindly, and is even more galling that the 2 town further up the coast , under the same council have until very recently had no parking charges at all. The council here has featured prominently in several episode of the TV programme parking wars. I have just discovered they are opening some of the public toilets on the sea front so they are obviously expecting aan influx. We will see.

Yes, that does rather sound as though your council is expecting an influx of people, Ladyholly. I'd love to live by the sea. I'm the first generation of my family not to have grown up on the coast, but we enjoy going off in our tent when we fancy some sea air..... not that we'll be doing that for a while.

Hello m'dears,
Hope you've all managed to have a decent day. I've been quite productive & found that the day has whizzed by much too fast. I did my mid-month budget check-in, sent off a legal letter which basically signs off all the probate work done on Mum's estate & cleared a few emails. I skyped my sister over coffee & the last of the scones then nobbled Mr F (who was between work wi-fi problems) to knock together a meal plan for next week. Then I nipped down to the veggie plot to cut some spinach & put our dinner in the slow cooker (chickpea & spinach curry) & wrote the shopping list.
This afternoon was still sunny (despite ice on the cars again first thing) so I planted out 2 trays of echium 'blue bedder' (bees love it), 1 of calendula & 2 of cornflowers. Am also hardening off the next batch. That was all I had time for though, as I was weeding as I went along.
Mr F went to the supermarket after he'd finished his online meetings, so just the market to do tomorrow for fresh fruit & veg.
My hands feel stiff tonight so I'm going to read instead of knit as my lovely big jumper is growing & getting quite heavy to hold.
In locked down solidarity...... & with gratitude to all key workers,
Love from F x

likewise doctors I went on "my gp" ap explained was wrong and a doctor phoned me then a physiotherapist phoned me for support.
Lovely sunny day here, in the garden today painting the gates I think, plus brench to sand down.

Pixiehouse I would go for a diagnostic scan if it was me because it could be years before the virus is over. They are being very careful and keeping covid patients well away from other patients. Just my thoughts. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

That's a tricky one, Pixiehouse. Like you, I'd be very wary of going to hospital in case I picked something up, but on the other hand, I'd also want to know what was wrong with my neck. Covid is affecting pretty much every decision & coursebof action at the moment, isn't it?

Hello Petunias,
Well, this morning was very exciting as I made my first excursion into town since Lockdown began!! Mr F decided he'd be the hunter-gatherer as he is a much speedier shopper than me - I get waylaid be looking at nice things - & as he avoided getting flu from me on any of the 3 consecutive years I had it, he reckons he's got a stronger immune system than me too. I was going to go in last Fri but we still had builders & the Fri before that I was waiting in for a delivery, so I was raring to go today. Mr F queued for the greengrocers & meat stall on the market & I went to Wilk*s for cat's meat of choice, bird food & black metal paint and then to the post office to pay in a cheque & buy more stamps. Then we met up again for the building society & I was able to check something silly which was bothering me & to pay some money into my ISA. I had forgotten there was a final payment to come from Mum's estate. It arrived recently & I have found myself looking online for big squishy expensive sofas. As we still have most of the building work still to come plus plasterer, painting, it is absolutely the wrong time to start hanging my nose over gorgeous sofas. But last night, there I was googling them again!! So this morning, I very deliberately paid that money into my ISA. It feels safe from sofas now.
What else? Sourdough loaf in the oven & the small bed around our pear tree weeded & re-planted with summer bedding - nicotiana, echium 'blue bedder' & cosmos 'cupcake'. Have now retired to my pondside bench with my book. Am reading 'Fran Kiss Stein' by Jeanette Winterson. The garden is really filling out with the lushness of May & I wish I could invite you all over for tea, scones & blackberry jam!
Stay safe m'dears. We will get through this in time.
