What is your annual kwh use on the space saver like? I have one too..
Is it fully pumped? Or just central heating pumped?
Hi its a spacesaver 50 CF circa 37 years old. Its currently range rated down to its lowest output of around 12Kw. Useage data for gas in 2017 was 8686Kw but that included a cooker. This is for a 37 year old 2 bed terrace.
The system as installed from new build was fully pumped but did not allow full dual channel control i.e you could have water only or water and heating with a Randal 102(?) timer.
A few years ago i replumbed and rewired it so that it had a mid position spring return diverter valve, new cylinder and roomstat and a twin channel 7+2 day programmer with lots of on and off options per day per channel. This increased overall efficiency.
In the last year i have acquired and put away some essential hard to get spares
You might consider doing the same ? Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
It's absurd to rip out a perfectly reliable boiler just because the pump has failed-which I think is an external component on these anyway. A new pump after 15 years is hardly unexpected.
In answer to your original post, the reason the BG RGI suggested a new boiler is simply because they get paid a referral fee if you then proceed to get a BG quote-which will typically be 40% higher than an independent. No free lunch, and no free laptop

My old boiler was using about 14MWh PA for a part insulated 3 bed semi. In 30 odd years it had just 2 thermocouples. It was the thermostat which finally croaked, but I couldn't get the spares.
I've had the new boiler 9 months, and I'm struggling not to forecast an annual consumption of 15.5MWh.0 -
Is your new boiler a large CHP unit?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

How many rads do you have @C_Mababejive? When you say you restrict it to it's lowest output of 12kw, do you mean on the dial on the front that has the min/max figures?0

Hi, I have 6 rads,i took one out to make way for a patio door. I have upped the insulation levels in house to reduce energy usage. The range rating is done on the gas control valve itself and should only be adjusted by a suitably qualified engineer. My Boiler stat dial (bottom left) is always set just a tad above minimum and this is plenty.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry).
