First aid and fire marshal

Afternoon all,
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this please.
Where I work several of us are first aiders with some, like myself, also being a designated fire marshal.
The fire marshal side of it is of course rarely used, however the first aid side gets used quite often.
Would you expect to get anything extra, be it pay or annual leave, in return for doing these duties?

When I was first aider in my role under my local authority I was paid £6.50 per month...Dwy galon, un dyhead,

My wife is a first aider and gets an extra £10 per month. However they dont have to pay her anything extra, just ensure shes paid for any training she does.0

You get to put it on your CV as a skillset.0 -
At my work it's £50 a year. It's not really something you do for financial gain. You're still working the same hours you're contracted to work.0

I wouldn't expect to get paid extra, as you're not working any extra time, you are simply (potentially) doing different duties on the occasions that you skills are needed. I would however expect the employer to pay the training costs and reimburse for travel costs to attend the training, etc.
That said, if you feel you should get something you could raise it. You might either be offered something or allowed to step down so someone else can take on the role.All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -

Aren't these positions voluntary? If you're expecting anything out of it, I think you need to reacquaint yourself with the meaning of the word "voluntary".0 -
I certainly wouldn't expect to get any extra annual leave but some companies, as has been said, pay a small amount. Most places though it is a voluntary thing. If you don't want to continue doing it just tell them.0

I get my training paid & a (big) kit supplied, along with any time away from my desk tending casualties gratis.
Money? People get paid to be a first aider?
It's just an extra tick on my cv for me.0 -
I get £11 per month as a designated first aider. As others say, all the training is paid for and it's useful skill set to have even without the extra money.0

I get nothing as a fire marshal. But didn't expect anything either.0
