Manager countersigning passport

Apologies if this has been asked before, i've looked on the list of those that are eligible to countersign passport photos. It says a manager of a vat registered company. Does that mean that any level manager can sign it? I don't really speak to the store manager or assistant manager so want to ask my department manager instead.

Give the passport office a ring or email, better to check with them as they will give you a correct answer

I e-mailed them, before i got a reply i rang them, woman on phone said yes any manager can, then i received an e-mail and was told only senior managers such as a bank manager. So i then e-mailed back saying are store managers classed as senior managers and haven't received a reply yet.

Is it a renewal? If so, apply online and no forms are needed.

I would fully expect the department manager to be accepted as a countersignatory.

However if the store manager has been aware of you as an employee for 3+ years you might approach him/her/the secretary with the form and photos ready to sign, it would only take a few moments of their time.

The countersignatory must also hold a current British or Irish passport

I'm just going to go for it and ask him and hope it's approved. Thanks for your advice guys.

I've just read the e-mail. It said that the "store manager level is normally a high enough level to be counted as a senior manager". So i'm going to ask him now, i know he has a passport because he sometimes has to travel abroad for conferences.

if it’s a big company then yes your department manager would be eligible to sign your application
