Can card readers be shared?

Options
DW and I have just received separate card-readers from Ulster Bank (part of RBS) for our current accounts.

Does anyone know if these readers can be 'shared' or if they are unique to each account? I don't want to try this out in case I get locked out and I cannot find any information in the documentation. There doesn't seem to be anything different between the two readers.

  • I believe the answer is no, as each customer has there own individual customer identification number. I would call the internet helpdesk which should be able to confirm this.

Just off the phone to NatWest Security Support, the number given in the card reader documentation - didn't think they'd be open on a Saturday morning!

They say that the one reader will do between the accounts. Will try it out and see.
