Octopus ( I am now with them), Tonik and Powershop are three that come to mind. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

So Energy offers £20 and they're just the best supplier with regard to communication and customer service; they really care about resolving any issues.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

thanks but just checked them and they nearly £270 more expensive than my current deal0

Octopus do a good referral scheme of £50 each.
If you subtract the referral cashback from the total cost it can work out cheaper than some of the cheaper tariffs, saving you more than you can achieve via PCW and cashback sites.
We helped an older relative, on a low income, sign up with Octopus and they have already received enough cashback to cover their electric bill for the next year. Saving them quite a substantial amount on their energy bill.
You can find referral links to use on the MSE referral board.0 -

The subject of this long thread are arguably the forerunners in this regard

I believe Ebico used to also ventured into this unsavory world at one time (vouchers I think they offered), but they have currently withdrawn from such practice.0 -
As this is supposed to be a money saving website, as opposed to a money making one, here is a list of suppliers that offer cashback for switching to them
You don't need any friends - just join Quidco
(other cashback sites are available, but if any other does offer more, don't forget Quidco offer a maximum cashback quarantee as well)
BG £65 cashback
EDF £50 cashback
SSE £46.60 cashback
M&S £46.40 cashback
Good Energy £50 cashback
Co-Op £20 cashback
Spark £40 cashback
Lumo £80 cashback
Amounts quoted are maximum amounts, and may require you to switch to certain tariff(s), so check the terms carefully.
If your preferred supplier is not listed above, don't forget the various comparison sites - again get cashback via Quidco or using the special MSE links.
Note: different comparison sites have differing arrangements with suppliers as to whether or not they offer are able to offer cashback, so check another if your preferred supplier is not on the first one you check.0 -

I would agree that it is an odd marketing ploy but PCW referral fees have been paid for years. All that the suppliers are doing is cutting out the middleman, and using customers to do their marketing. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. The big difference with a PCW is that they list all the suppliers and all the tariffs, so you can see just how much, or little, you will be paying.
If then you get some cashbck too, so much the better :money:
(Remember, MSE Martin says don't base your decision on possible cashback)
On the other hand, when your "friend" is trying to sell you a product, they will only be offering you one supplier and they won't care how much it will be costing you - all they will only be thinking how much is potentially in it for them if they convince you to take up the offer proposed.0 -

I agree that the first port-of-call is a full market comparison. Sadly, Martin may have failed to notice that MSE CEC now shows the total annual cost which INCLUDES any cash back from MSE CEC. If asked, I am sure that Martin would agree that consumers should also look at the total annual cost less any ‘friends and family’ cash back that is available to them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
