DVLA Accidentally Informed my Car was Written Off

HELP PLEASE.

My previous insurance company accidentally informed the DVLA that my car was a CAT B write off. Hastings Direct is the guilty party. I have spent weeks on the phone to they to get them to rectify the issue and they claim they have. The DVLA inform me they have not been updated but I just keep going backwards and forwards between the 2. Neither are very helpful. I want to sell the car but am unable to do this as the DVLA won't issue a V5C (I had a private plate I took off the vehicle). Any advice???
