    www.openrent.co.uk/tenant-referencing scroll down half way & there's a link to an example search.

    1 thing they DO see is your score (which everyone on mse will tell you they don't see & it doesn't mean anything anyway, they DO see & it DOES mean something)

    Oh they'Ll want to do it themselves incase you fake it.

    Hope that's helpful for you
    No it doesn't.

    They see A score. (it's still a meaningless number)

    NO-ONE has a universal credit score - each agency actually has their own maximum 700,900 and 999 I believe.

    Hmm, not convinced myself but never mind. Funny story I have 1 credit score in married name new house & a vastly different credit score maiden name original house, neither have me down as an alias or linked address so not an infallible service anyway :eek::rotfl::cool:

    You should really check your credit reports at the three main agencies and make sure mistakes like this are all sorted just in case you want to apply for any credit in the future.

    Once you do check them you will see that Callcredit, Equifax and Experian all generate their own version of credit score (plus many other third parties also do aswell). You will then see how useless they actually are when they are all different!.
  • I am currently in the process of renting a flat with my partner. The rent is £750 a month and between us both we bring in £80k a year. His credit score is perfect. Mine is poor. I have no outstanding payments, CCJ's. I've never been bankrupt etc. I have a credit card which I'm currently using to increase my score. We plan on going for a mortgage in a year so I want to improve my score.

    I am confused about what information the letting can see? I was under the impression they were looking for CCJ's, insolvency and that I am on the electoral roll and thats all they can see.

    On the website of my letting agent it states this -

    Please note that our basic criteria for a satisfactory application are as follows;

    -a credit check confirming no bankruptcy, insolvency, County Court Judgements or regularly missed or late payments on existing credit agreements
    a positive Agent/Landlord reference (if applicable)
    verifiable income of at least 30x the monthly rental amount !!!8211; this can be in the form of a reference from your employer, confirmation of earnings from an accountant (if self employed or a business owner) or confirmation of paying the term of rent in advance.

    The part that is niggling at me is ' regularly missed or late payments on existing credit agreements ' how can they see this if they only see a public record?

    Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
