hiring a lawyer to end the harrasment?

I have a quick question but wasn't sure where to ask it.
Ive been receiving ZZPS letters from a PCN (today i got one from QDR Solicitors). I have ignored and i will continue to ignore these until i get a CCJ then i will be here asking for help but my current question is this - Could i get a laywer to write to the CEL to drop the harassment and letters etc? My brother is good friends with a laywer who might be able to help me out. Would this do the trick to get them to back off or should i just continue to ignore until i get a CCJ?

Thanks guys! :A

Debt collectors sending letters is their way of doing business

If a sols letter stopped them then they would have stopped years ago!

You don't get a ccj for ignoring them! They are toothless. See https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5035663

The newbies faq thread near the top of the forum does cover the debt collector stage in this game

Why...?

Reading the Newbies Sticky, starting with post four and informing yourself properly will be far cheaper and in the vast majority of cases more effective. :)

I hope you won't wait until you get a CCJ, that would mean you ignored the court papers an got a default judgment against you.

I think you meant to ask whether you should ignore until you get a Court Claim, from the CCBC on form N1.

Writing letters to the likes of ZZPS has no effect, they don't even read them.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

Perhaps you should first find out the steps involved in order to get a CCJ. They don't just appear in the post or on your credit file. You have to actively fail to do a lot of things first before you get a CCJ.

I doubt if the solicitor you are thinking of using knows more than the good people on here. In fact, I am quite sure that the average solicitor knows a lot less than most of the regulars when it comes to private parking matters.

• Yes i ment a court claim not a CCJ. :embarasse
I shall just sit and wait to see what happens then. Its just making me really anxious these days so i was just wondering if a letter to the car parking company would make it stop.

Not to worry.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Well, getting a lawyer is very expensive and probably
will not help you as much as this forum can.
You are receiving debt collector letters.
ZZPS and QDR are owned by Wright Hassall solicitors who
are hiding away from the scam

CEL more often than not give up when they see help
from this forum. In general CEL is a nasty little company
so read up about them here

http://parking-prankster.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=CEL

A CCJ only happens if it went to court, you lost and did
not pay ..... that's the only time.

Because most solicitors/lawyers have limited knowledge
of the parking scam and they stay clear of it, you will
probably be given bad information.

There you go, I have already given you more information
than a standard solicitor will know about.

You ignore debt trawlers but if you get an official
court claim, come back here for all the help you need

PS, there are couple of good solicitors on this forum who
understand the parking scam and offer their advice free

What happened when you complained to the landowner?

You should complain to your MP.

These are some of the comments made by the MPs in Parliament concerning the unregulated parking industry (Feb 2018):

https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2018-02-02/debates/CC84AF5E-AC6E-4E14-81B1-066E6A892807/Parking(CodeOfPractice)Bill

''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.

These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.

Tell the landowner the same thing.

Same advice as writing to debt collectors.

Don't!!

Any contact will just alert the ppc that you are on the hook, and wriggling!

That will just encourage them to up their tactics against you

You can get a solicitors letter off the internet for a few pounds, but a DCA will probably laugh it off.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences.

Parking Eye, Smart and a smaller company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (who take hundreds of these cases to court, and nearly always lose), who have also been reported to the regulatory authority.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas.
