Lifetime ISA and Marriage

Hi,

I am looking for a little bit of advice please. I recently got married but have lived in my now husbands home for the last 3 years. I have just applied for a lifetime ISA as I have never previously owned a property. However I am now wondering if the fact I am married to my husband and he has a property would cause issues in being able to use the LISA for our first home together?

Thanks in advance

Your husband can't use a LISA to fund a property purchase without penalty, because he's had property before. You can use a LISA, because you haven't.

Maybe you were getting confused by the rules on stamp duty - it's possible to get a reduced level of stamp duty on properties below a certain value, if all the joint buyers are first time buyers; but as he's not, you can't.
