Fivers used in Scotland:
- The Royal Bank have two mackerel on the reverse.
- Clydesdale - the Forth (rail) Bridge and
- Bank of Scotland - the Brig o'Doon.
- Bank of England - some auld burd.
Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0 -

I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0 -

Reread OP, which is saying they paid in £400 (20 x £10 and 40 x £5) but only got back £300 (20 x £10 and 20 x £5), so the 40 refers to how many notes came back out rather than the 60 they're saying went in in the first place.
Yes, it is confusing but that's how I read it - the 40 notes are the ones that were returned. Not sure if the OP is confused about it though - just not explained very well.0 -

Scottish notes including paper notes of the penultimate series should be accepted without any problems in most banks (not used Natwest myself though).
A few years ago I put a Jersey £10 into a bank deposit machine and it was retained as suspected fake. I had previously deposited Isle of Man notes into that machine without issues, but not Jersey.
If it was a fake, then the cash machine I took it out from in Jersey was dispensing fakes.
Anyway the branch manager opened up the machine, looked at the note closely and then told a teller to deposit it into my account. Nothing else came of it, so must have been fine.0 -

I don't see how people got confused over that, as you've shown £400 in the ratio the OP has said has to be 60 notes.PeacefulWaters wrote: »which exceeds the machine limit.
Yep, was probably always going to be a problem. OP should have made 2 or 3 separate deposits to ensure no problems.====0 -
Hi just to clarify ....
I inserted 20 10 quid notes
and 40 5 quid notes which makes 400 quid
out came 20 10 quid notes, but only 20 5 quid notes instead of the 40 I put in0 -
can anyone clarify the 60 notes stuff?
surely the 60 I put in should be fine??0
