house = 60s build.

Please look at all 4 images, its part of the stepping up to the front door of the house and also makes the support for the balcony area outside front of house.
On the top of the front decking area there are tiles like this: https://imgur.com/a/YqjvO so you can only see it from side and under.
chances its asbestos from 1 to 10 please?

I was just showing what was on top.
Thanks for replies
, i get really freaked out by this stuff and have very little practical building knowledge/skills. I saw this 60s house and its a !!!!ing amazing house tbh but pretty sure its going to have asbestos somewhere due to being 60s build? in the loft i bet hmmm
I read on google it can be mixed into concrete but i guess not this type.0 -
Be careful, if you suspect it's dangerous. Stand well back, by at least 3 miles, cover yourself in lard and butter for full protection. Then call a specialist company to clear it at a cost of £3k per cm.
Sorry, just couldn't help myself.
Can understand your concerns though; there are so many wild and wonderful tales about the 'dangers' of asbestos. Mainly so that money can be made!0 -
I recall the first time I ever saw someone taking measures to protect themselves from asbestos fibres.Be careful, if you suspect it's dangerous. It was around 1984 and my neighbour was removing a shed roof with a wet hanky tied over his mouth. I was shocked and surprised, having watched my father cut up asbestos with a hand saw, fag in mouth, many a time.
The neighbour explained the extreme hazard he faced and the precautionary measure he'd taken. I wasn't sure whether I was impressed or not, since all this was new to me.
He died a few years later from something unrelated to the lungs. Dad lived till he was 95.0 -

:rotfl:its ok you made me laugh that is how i feel, i have asbestos phobia, the internet has doen a good job on me.
I do think generally we dont take enough precautions. Even just walking around in general car polution stench will seem very bad for health looking back in 50 years etc, and now its barely considered.0 -
It’s definitely not asbestos but your concrete is showing early signs of cancer.
BF0 -
Looks very dangerous to me.
Zero danger from asbestos of course, but a high danger from lump of concrete falling on your head or stepping onto balcony and it collapsing.0
