Hi,

Which online website has the best value for money for kitchens that is backed up by good reviews and feedback?

Looking for good deals that includes sink, gas hob and eye level single gas oven and extractor hood packages or without if there are no package deals.

Also anyone know any good kitchens locally in Birmingham?

Cost is £2750-2900 for 12 units.

We want kitchen for 2 walls meaning it is a L shape kitchen.

When wren say 12 units, to clarify does than mean any size unit, any type of opener, any number of openers and any number of shelves? So as long it is 12 units the price will be the same?

If price is not the same then what exactly 12 units will I be getting for £2750-2900?

Will 1 large unit that has combined size of 2 standard size units be the same price as 1 standard unit?

Typically what are the standard sizes of units? I understand if its not standard and tailored then its expensive.

Finally if my kitchen takes smaller than standard size units or less than 12 then it should be cheaper yeah?

Those aren't usually sold with kitchens but as separate appliance packages. Any kitchen retailer will donthat.

It's the second largest city in the UK. Think of it, they have it. Wickes. Howdens, Benchmarx are reliable but trade only. Selco is an option though I've never used them. Ideally I'd say something that is held in stock so there are no delays when people like Wren take six weeks or something to deliver half a kitchen.

Not at all. It will be a set combination purely for the purpose of comparing their own kitchens against each other - which is cheaper, which is more expensive. Your own design is priced individually.

I suspect there will be something on their website. But it is a guide, not a package of units!

all units aee differently priced but one 1000mm unit will be cheaper than two 500mm units

You need to check each retailer. 600mm is the soace that most appliances use so tends to be very common. Here's Howdens Gloss Shaker range.

You have to design a kitchen, not just bung it in. Get someone to design it and price it for you. No point starting with DIY kitchens as your knowledge of kitchens is pretty low. Can your builder not help?

How much typically is that howdens gloss shaker range? It looks good.

What knowledge do I need first to start at DIY kitchens? I can get measurement myself no problem.

Kitchen will be a typical L shape kitchen nothing out of the ordinary I guess.

Will any L shape kitchen fit the dimensions of my kitchen? Or will any units needs to be tailored first avoiding gaps between units?

Units won't be tailored to fit as such, carcasses will come in set sizes - 150,300,400,500,600,800,900,1000 offered in a lot of ranges.

The fitting will fill any gaps by using pieces of matching Edge Panel / Plinth as needed.

Not all gaps need filling that way. We have a 130mm gap in floor run that is used for trays, chopping boards and a 250mm gap between 2 bridging units over a hatch that has a few recipe books on it.

Google "online kitchen design tools" to find one and start playing.

I started with some graph paper & a pencil. And one advantage with DIY kitchens is they do cupboards in 50mm increments.

In one corner of the kitchen is the best place to start measuring. If you have to ask about measuring a room, you shouldn't be doing it. You need to go to somewhere that will handle the whole process for you as you will get in a complete pickle if you attempt to do any part of the kitchen replacement yourself.

Ok I did the measurements:

It will be a L shape kitchen meaning units for just 2 walls. We like less units as possible however making full use of those 2 walls spaces resulting in no gaps or less gaps as possible. For example instead of having 2 x 500mm units we would like 1 x 1000mm unit instead if it does not cause conflicts or issues with other units. The less units the cheaper it will be.

- Two walls are 3.32m and 3.6m. Letter L turned upside down clockwise.

- Window on the 3.32m wall is 0.886m in length. Location of this window on this wall is from right side of window to end of wall is 0.945m and from left side of window to end of wall is 1.49m.

- Boiler unit must be minimum height of 38.5-39 Inches

- Sink under the window without it being offset too much left or right from the window

Yes boiler is in the corner on the left side of that 3.32m wall. We be having freestanding washing machine next to left side of sink. Freestanding dryer next to washing machine. We be having freestanding fridge as well but wont be on those 2 walls so fridge will be irrelevant to the plan.

The only built in appliances we are having are eye level oven and gas hob. 750 or 900 gas hob in middle of that 3.6m wall.

I love to have drawers in most units as possible but understand this is extra expensive so which units typically have drawers where its needed?

Does more shelves make it more expensive?

What other things makes it more expensive?
