PPI Claim for a a mortgage on a right to governmen

Hi
Thanks in advance but I am going to help my parents with a PPI claim. They had a mortgage on there property under right to buy in 1987.
They were told they had to get at the time or they wouldn't get there mortgage. So my question is how do they put in a claim. Do they complain to the council direct and would there be a special team to deal with it. I don't know where to start with this as I have done PPI s before for cards but using a questionnaire. Please help

Do they have any documents to prove any miss selling. He said, she said isno proof. I think that was the norm in those days to,have some sort of insurance to cover paying for a mis hap ie death, jnjury.
How would the mortgage have been paid if they both were killed in an accident or the house burned to the ground.
Im sure people who know more than me will be along soon
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Just because it was purchased under a right to buy scheme, doesn't mean that the local authority provided the mortgage. I'd say it was very unlikely that the "Council" provided the mortgage or insisted on PPI.

Your parents (not you) will have to write a complaint to whichever financial institution provided the mortgage.

Do note that the complaint is very weak, it's even possible that PPI (or some other form of insurance such as Life assurance) WAS a condition of this mortgage thirty years ago.

Are your parents even sure they had MPPI?

. Do they complain to the council direct

Council has nothing to do with it.

If your parents used a broker, they give up now. It is 18 years before regulation. If they used a lender's own product, they complain to the lender.

In 1987, banks did need life assurance as a condition of borrowing. MPPI did exist but was unusual back then. Did they actually pay MPPI or are you just fishing at this stage?
