Not much to add OP, but I sympathise.

Agree with the above, profusely apologize, you reacted in an unacceptable way to a frustrating situation etc etc. won't ever happen again etc etc.

I used to do HR for call centres, and to be blunt I don't fancy your chances, but employers are all different so you never know.

Good luck with the job applications.

The employer has invested time and money in training the OP, and presumably this is their first transgression. If it was up to me I would give a final written warning and send them back to their desk.

As an aside, it is a shame that the F word has become part of everyday language for many people nowadays, so much so that it replaces every adverb or adjective in normal conversation, and they don't even realise they are doing it. Three young students at the bus stop yesterday were looking at photos on eachothers' phones, and every second word was F or F*ing. They weren't more than 17 or 18. I find it sad.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

I would use this as a life lesson and try and limit your use of swearing. Even outside of work there is no real reason to swear.
  • Good luck to the OP but was it really the best thing to do to name your employer in your post?
Not great if you want to keep your job.
You may wish to get hold of a copy of your disciplinary procedure as that usually gives you examples of gross misconduct.

Good point (which I am sorry I didn't pick up) - OP, suggest you edit it out. (And you have made another, later, post in which you name the employer.)
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • The customer who reported you is a scumbag. Unfortunately, a lot of customers are scumbags when it comes to call centre work.

If you do get sacked it may well be a blessing in disguise, you'll need to speak to less scumbags in future. I worked in call centres for years - something I regret intensely.

Call centre work can be great, if you can develop a high tolerance for idiots and are lucky enough to work in a supportive environment, from both team-mates and management.
  • Of course but I would expect consequences

Or how about a little humanity?

Once you make a complaint you have no control over the level of punishment that person receives. How would you feel knowing that person could lose their job, knowing that their benefits will then be sanctioned because they've been sacked?

    Good old Christian values eh!

Its the snowflake generation that we're bringing up now. Everyone is brought up to believe they are unique and special and the world revolves around them and thus they get deeply offended if they arent shown the respect they believe they deserve.

I wouldnt be surprised if the person asked for com-pen-say-shun for having to endure such an "outburst".

You think this is bad, check out the House Buying, Renting and Selling Thread. Ye gods! Com-pen-say-shun for the fact there is a manhole cover in the garden of their new build. I could not make this up. No drains, now that would be a case for compensation unless the property were off-grid. Very sorry for derailment.

ConfusedMan999, best of luck, learn from it whatever happens and I am sure you will find another job soon.
