Suspended with pay.. Will I be sacked?

Having worked in call-centres, there are no shortage of customers like this! Rarely would a day pass without someone promising to have my job.
I'm sure you are right. It's not a job I would want to do. But some call centres are better than others. As I've posted on another thread I've been particularly impressed by both Coventry BS and Santander. I've always found them very helpful and easy to deal with.
I can't say the same about some others...0 -
Don’t attempt to justify why you swore, they don’t want to hear it. Apologise and reassure them that there will be no further repetition.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

I'd like to keep my job, but part of me thinks this is all a foregone conclusion and the only reason I wasn't sacked Monday is because they can't legally do that, there has to some procedure followed. I'll be paid until the end of the week, go in for five minuets on Tuesday and they will say sorry but goodbye.
I don't love the job, but I would have happily stayed a good while longer. Seems so petty that one 'f*ck' can cost someone their job. The world of the call centre and pretending to be the most polite and patient person in the world maybe isn't for me in the long term but I thought it would last a lot longer than this.0 -
It really does depend on the firm/manager. Here, you wouldn't get more than a 'tone it down, mate, conversation; other places are totally different.
Good luck, whatever happens.0 -
Why should I be ashamed for expecting someone dealing with the public to not swear in the workplace!Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I don't like swearing, but wanting someone to be disciplined for an honest mistake is downright nasty.0 -

Sorry mate but effing and jeffing in a call centre even if you are not on the phone is well out of order. Headsets are very sensitive and someone else's could've picked up your swearing as well. I've been there when I worked in a call centre (many years ago) and had to apologise for the person next to me swearing.
You're effectively on trial so actually they didn't have to follow any process and as long as it isn't motivated by anything covered by the equality act or pregnancy (and this is a straight misconduct matter IMHO), they can tell you you've been laid off at ant time without any reason at all.
To give yourself a chance, show complete remorse, that you understand it is unacceptable, and that this will not happen again. But I will be blunt (as someone who is trained in employment law - I am a union rep), your chances probably aren't great.2.88 kWp System, SE Facing, 30 Degree Pitch, 12 x 240W Conergy Panels, Samil Solar River Inverter, Havant, Hampshire.
