Default CCJ for parking fine now held with DCBL

Hi all,
I have a parking fine that was sent to my old address where my father lives and since my mother passed away (3 years ago) we have sadly fallen out and we no longer speak. Then one morning he randomly messaged me and said 'There are some letters for you here i'll leave them out for you'.
The issue on my part is that I did not update my DVLA to my new address as I forgot (I know not good in my defense), and these parking firms have obviously used that to gain the address of the car.
This has lead to me receiving a default CCJ which now has been passed onto DCBL and is at an amount of £353.98. I was about to pay this fine and then used the N244 form to arrange it to be set aside as my credit rating was really good and now its below poor!
The question is what defense could I stand against? I read a post earlier and the person was honest and admitted to not changing their address and the set aside got approved but it was slightly different to my case 'forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5585047' (it will not let me post a full link as I am new.)
Can I explain that I have been going through a really hard time with family issues and that if I knew about this I would have paid, and that I can pay it straight away I just would like for it to be set aside so it doesn't destroy my credit rating? I can prove that I moved address etc...
One thing i've spotted is the 'Defendant's Date of Birth:' on the Judgement for Claimant ( in default ) is blank... which I find weird. Is this correct? If so why?
Overall am I worth defending this in court or with anybodys experience am I just wasting £255 and would have no chance as its my error? I just feel its absolutely ridiculous that such as small fine can wreck your credit for years and cause so much stress and anxiety.
Thanks for your time.

That is insignificant. One thing i've spotted is the 'Defendant's Date of Birth:' on the Judgement for Claimant ( in default ) is blank... which I find weird. Is this correct? If so why?
As you haven't responded to any communication with the claimant or the court, there is no way anyone could've supplied information to fill that box.0 -
Okay I was just wondering that is all.0

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences.
Parking Eye, Smart and a smaller company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (who take hundreds of these cases to court, and nearly always lose), who have also been reported to the regulatory authority.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
