    We've paid into our son's CTF since 2005 - he's 14 now.

We've had years when we've not paid in but generally paid around £150 a month and now £250.

The CTF is now worth £27,000.

So - if you don't pay much in or have been on cash or friendly society CTF's then yes - the return is low.

Just a shame the OP hasn't come back to give any more info and clarify what they actually paid in
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

I just checked my CTF. Assuming I got my XIRR formula correct it has enjoyed annualised growth equivalent to just over 20%pa for the 7 years it has been running, including all charges.

I wish my investments did that well.
