Living Abroad: UK Car Insurance

Hello,
Since moving abroad with the family several years ago, my husband and I have been on my mother's car insurance as additional drivers, this has allowed us freedom for trips back home.
For the latest renewal of my mum's insurance, the broker asked if we are still abroad and on hearing YES, said the premium would rise from affordable to £1500.
A search online shows reasonable cover with another insurer, for both of us as additional drivers. But, there is no question concerning where we live. We both have full, clean UK driving licences of several decades, have declared car ownership, as asked, employment status and license details, this was as personal as the online form got.
This may seems an odd question but can we assume we would be fully covered with these details alone?

We have done this for my husband (from lsat year) as he only comes for short trips, but my trips tend to be longer with kids over holidays.0
