WARNING - The following website is being used by scammers to dupe people into paying money for fake technical support
http(colon)//wst1(dot)co(dot)uk/TechSupport/
My client received pop ups saying his computer was infected with a virus and must call an 0800 number immediately for "Windows Technical Support"
On calling the number they asked him to go to http(colon)//wst1(dot)co(dot)uk/TechSupport/ and click on the "Support 1" link.
This downloaded a software package called "SUPPORT ONE" which allowed them to control his PC.
After a while they said to him "we are going to shut down your computer and will call you back in the morning". This is designed to make the victim worry overnight, then be more susceptible to scamming the next day.
I have reported the site to GoDaddy (where it is registered) and hopefully they will take it down.
PS: I have made the urls safe to post

Naming the website is pointless as another can be set up in seconds.
GoDaddy are going to do nothing here as these websites unfortunately do not break any laws.
They are simply offering a service.
Unnecessary, yes - Overpriced, certainly - underhand, definitely .... but legal nontheless
You should focus your efforts into educating your clients regarding calling numbers that appear in pop-ups
And in the use of malwarebytes0 -
They claim to be a independent Windows support company but the image on their website is of an iPad and an iMac.0
