Samsung TV recording problem

We have a Samsung smart TV with an external HDD plugged into the back for recording stuff.
I have it set to record Match of the Day as a 'series'
Over the last few weeks on a couple of occasions, it has only recorded the first 16 minutes and then stopped.:(
Now, being a supporter of the (once) mighty Stoke City
I know that my team are never featured during the first hour, let alone 16 minutes!
The drive is not even half full, so it's not a 'capacity' issue.
Any ideas what's up?

I can't really help, other to repeat my usual advice that a TV with a record feature is no match for a dedicated PVR.
The start and stop times are the broadcasters' responsibility, but if that had gone wrong, lots of people would only have got 16 mins.
I would guess that maybe the power provided to the hard drive over USB is marginal. If you can get other power into it it might be more stable.0 -
Match of the Day is always available almost immediately on BBC iPlayer. Not ideal if you want to "archive" recordings, but it's available for some time after broadcast.0

Almost is the important word ... normally about Monday morning IIRC, but sometimes I like to enjoy the pain over the weekend!Moneyineptitude wrote: »Match of the Day is always available almost immediately on BBC iPlayer.
Sadly, this is a season to forget, so no archiving necessary.Moneyineptitude wrote: »Not ideal if you want to "archive" recordings, but it's available for some time after broadcast.

OP, are you asking it to record BBC1 HD or the SD channel. I used to use an external hard drive and it was absolutely useless with HD channels - mixed results from half recorded programmes, stop/start recordings etc. I ended up getting a Youview box through my ISP and all my woes (TV recording wise) have ended.0
