  • Im confused - are you getting the furniture as part of the sale? otherwise why would it matter...?

It's a good thing, as you have been able to see that they aren't hiding anything.

A relative bought a house a few years ago and was thrilled that the bedroom carpet was nearly new and was in a colour she liked.

Unfortunately, when they moved in they found that the carpet had been fitted around the wardrobe - which wasn't included in the sale.
  • Just to warn you, you may find when you go back again that some plants in the garden have grown or even, perhaps, flowered.

Don't be to alarmed, these things happen. Quite normal really.

"I know people like to swap their furniture around (I do it frequently) but doesn't it seem strange to do it before you move? We are set to exchange in 12 weeks?"

Set to exchange in 12 weeks ? No offence but you sound liken nightmare buyers.
  • Thank you for the replies that were constructive.

Yes we are FTB which is why we want to ask for opinions over here.

Certainly same house. Would make sense that they moved furniture for viewings, they had been on market for long time and I guess they must have tried moving furniture to see if that would help sell it (guess it did!?)

We are going to have a 3rd look round there some point next month so I guess we can have anther look then.

OH doesn't think to see if things are damaged or are being used to conceal! So I don't think he would have noticed anyway. His look around was just too get a feel for it.

Survey will show up anything, just wondered if there was anything we should be wary of before it gets that far!

I can well imagine people moving furniture around for photos/initial showing, then moving it back to how they actually use it, nothing to worry about.

    Look at this positively.

There are many houses where the furniture can only go in one place - here you now know that there are alternatives for the bed, wall units etc.

You always need to look beyond what is there - the decoration, the curtains.

Generally it is good to see a house with furniture in it - then you can visualise where your stuff can go.

I once viewed a house where a big wardrobe had been moved between photos and viewings.
The vendor said 'the agent asked us to cover up the parrot poo on the walls' while they did the photos.

The poop was still there but the wardrobe had been moved. We didn't buy it LOL

Maybe they were cleaning, moved it and liked it and didn't see the point of moving it back as they're moving soon.

It's not until you've moved furniture that you suddenly find you prefer it that way .... or "that'll do for now" anyway.
