Barclays can’t find my Egg account

I have no paperwork, but submitted my claim to Barclays for an Egg card which I took out around 1999 and paid off around 2003. I gave my maiden name and all addresses. Barclays wrote back to say they couldn’t find any account in my name. Is there anything else I can do? Thanks in advance.

If you have no documentary evidence and neither have the bank, realistically there is nowhere left to go.

You could gamble £10 on a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter to Barclays, but it's unlikely to contradict what you have already been told.

Barclays bought Egg credit cards in 2011. I would not have bought your credit card account that was closed eight years before that.

You need to contact Canada Square Operations Ltd. They may or may not hold details of a 15 year old account.
