Delayed despatch from abroad

I completed a purchase with a BIN from abroad. It states 5 working days delivery estimated arrival 5th march. I had an email from the seller saying that the stock was damaged and they had to wait a further 5-7 working days for new stock before they could despatch. They offered a discount off any further purchases.
I emailed saying that i wanted a new estimated arrival date and could i recieve a discount off this purchase not future purchases.
Is that a reasonable request. I havent come across this before.
What rights has the buyer got if the item doesnt come as promised.
Thanks

Is it reasonable? Possibly, probably, yes/no. What matters is if you and the seller can agree.
This sounds like a Chinese seller.
As for your rights. On eBay you will be covered if the original purchase doesn't arrive by the due date. eBay cannot enforce the refund/discount against other purchases.0 -

I will see what the seller says. Is this common for chinese sellers. If i decided that the time is too long and the item doesnt arrive, do i have to wait to dispute the transaction until due date or can i claim refund now. I did want this item for a birthday that is in couple of weeks. My husband who i am getting it for knows about the delay.0 -
I checked the order and it claims location as London, but in the feedback there are several unhappy comments about it being a scam as it is a chinese seller. The due date is still a few days yet.0

Sounds as if the seller has not yet sent the item, so message them and say you would like to cancel the order because the item won't arrive in time for you to give as a birthday gift.
If the item arrives later than the estimate, you won't necessarily get a refund unless it is 'too late to be of use' - which clearly doesn't apply here, not least because your husband already knows his birthday present is going to be late!0 -

They havent sent the item as they said it was damaged and will be another 5-7 working days before they get the stock. Is this how they get round the extended time for delivery if its coming from china instead on london0 -

Sounds like it, so call their bluff and cancel the order.0 -
They replied and offered a refund so i am taking it. Look for another one from a definite uk seller0

Could be a co-incidence but it is Chinese New Year.Dwy galon, un dyhead,

They shouldnt be selling as a uk seller if they are not in uk. I will need a refund first before i buy another just in case0

It's just pure greed and lack of any selling point other than price that they can vouch for business on. This and sellers drop shipping item on eBay off other eBay sellers or even Amazon sellers are right up there.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise.
