Query re gas meter inside cupboard - needs bracket

I was lucky enough to have a boiler fitted under the Eco scheme a few days ago. While they were here, the plumber said that the gas meter should be bracketed as you can move it inside the meter cupboard. He also mentioned the piping on one side, I can't remember what he said about that but it doesn't fit new regulations.

Will my energy supplier put a bracket on the meter for free or is it my responsibility? It's been like that for 35 years, but I know regulations change.

I will be contacting Scottish Power about it but as I have a problem with my ears at the moment I'm unable to use the phone.

Everything to do with your meter is the suppliers responsibility not yours.

Some boiler engineers are more conscientious than others - yours has made comments, others wouldn't. Did he give you a defect report ?

The piping on the incoming side should be flexible and have valve - on your side of the meter it is rigid piping. Mine was brought up to date when the meter was changed.

Could you photograph the installation and send to Scottish Power ?

Thank you Robin, yes I can do that. He didn't give me a defect report, just made a note on his final report.
