I know it's a silly question but you didn't go to the 'PayPal site' by clicking on a link in an email you received did you?0

I have edited this post and completely removed my original response as the OP was edited and completely changed after I first responded. Shame I wasted my time.0

There was no link at all...
Email Was Service@paypal.co.uk
Email said this:
Verify your identity to lift your receiving limits.
Someone tried to send you money using PayPal, but the amount exceeded limits set by European law. To lift the limit, the law requires you to verify your identity.
What do I need to do?
Log in to your PayPal account, look for the Notifications icon, and follow the instructions. Once you provide the information to verify your identity, we'll process it as quickly as possible to get you back on track.
If you have already seen this notification on your PayPal account and taken action, you can ignore this email.
If you have any questions or require more assistance, please contact us.
I changed my password and verified my account...
Why did I get this email..

Having now edited your original post and removed most of the information from it after the initial responses, I assume you are more concerned with how naive you may be making yourself look that you are with getting meaningful advice/feedback.0

There are genuine limits of how much money can go through a PayPal account before it has to be fully verified and then those limits are lifted, so this could actually be genuine. I know that I did this myself some time ago and had to provide further ID etc.
But I do feel concerned that you were asked to change your password, I don't think that is usually part of the process. And the statement sounds a bit odd that someone has actually tried to send you more money than the law allows. I think it would just tell you that you were approaching account limits and needed to be verified further to continue using the account and be able to receive money.
I really think that you need to speak to them. But I would also log in to your account and change your password again first, with some urgency.0 -
Forward it to:
spoof@paypal.co.uk
If it's a Scam or Phishing attempt, paypal will thank you. If it is genuine, they will also tell you. Whaetever you do, I hope you have not opened it.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

You're welcome, but don't forget about spoof@paypal.co.uk
That applies to everyone else here who does not know about it. (if you already know, no need to tell me so.)I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
