  • So I got a message today saying I am in my overdraft again.
I checked my account to find £5 had been charged again for "Daily Unarranged o/d Usage Fee" - assuming this was due to going into my overdraft for the £5 they charged me last month. I feel I am in an endless loop. I've now gone into my overdraft again therefore assume I will be charged £5 again next month?

Can Nationwide do this? Will I be able to claim any of this back?

If £5 is putting you into an unauthorised overdraft and incurring charges, then you really ought to ensure that (until this blows over) you leave at least a £5 balance in the account or an authorised overdraft - you may well have some justification in arguing the rights and wrongs of exactly what they're doing but the whole situation really should be easily avoidable!

Stop running your finances so close to zero.

Postscript to the above - I found myself in exactly the same situation by not taking sufficient care with dates when shunting money around and not monitoring statements, while running my (Nationwide current account) finances close to zero!

While able and willing to take my own medicine by accepting responsibility for my errors, I've found Nationwide to be quite accommodating when asking nicely.... ;)
